Mini bio

  • Iñaki Aguilar is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and author based in Madrid, Spain. A graduate of the University of Westminster’s Film program in London, his work moves between psychological horror, queer portraiture, and independent cinema, blending visual poetry with emotionally raw and provocative subject matter.

Aguilar began his career as a child actor, appearing in commercials and short films in Mexico before transitioning into writing, directing, and producing. Alongside his filmmaking career, he has published two novels under the pseudonym Cruz Del Castillo: Corpus Christi, Texas and American Homosexual.

His debut feature film, Lujuria (2025), is an independently produced psychological horror film exploring desire, religious repression, morality, and faith. Shot in black and white using predominantly natural light, the film premiered within the Brigadoon section of the Sitges Film Festival and has since received more than 25 international festival selections and won over 14 awards worldwide. Its accolades include multiple Best Feature Film prizes and three nominations at the 2026 Cannes Film Awards, where Aguilar won Best Director of an Experimental Film.

Aguilar’s second feature film, Poliéster, is in post-production and is scheduled for release in Spring 2027.
