Michael Keeney is a composer, arranger, producer, and engineer born in Donegal and based in Northern Ireland, with over 25 years of experience across film, television, and recorded music. His work spans orchestral scoring, contemporary production, and screen music, and includes collaborations with artists such as Snow Patrol, Van Morrison, Lisa Hannigan, Villagers, Foy Vance, INXS, ASIWYFA, SOAK and Hannah Peel. His is known for his orchestral work for the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Ulster Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Keeney has worked on productions for companies including Netflix, Disney, HBO, Sky, BBC, ITV, Paramount, and RTÉ, and is a two-time winner of the UK Music Producers Guild Award for Score Recording of the Year. Alongside his screen and collaborative work, he is developing a personal compositional practice blending neo-classical orchestral writing with electronics and ambient sound design. He is 2024-2027 Artist in Residence at Queen’s University Belfast and serves on the board of the Ulster Orchestra.
