Biography

Maria Ana Vivian "Bing" F. Nellasca is a Filipino film director, screenwriter and producer. Born in the Philippines, she is the second of the four children of Nelia Flor, a retired teacher, and Arturo Nellasca (1947-2010). She has 2 other sisters and 1 brother.

An accountant by profession, Bing felt the call to be a film director when she saw her mother directing a school play. She nevertheless pursued an education in Commerce and has consistently grown her career in the companies (banks and biggest Philippine broadcast) she later worked for. When she finally decided to answer the call to be in the film, she transitioned by working in the Business Process Outsourcing industry and picked up a few people who would also later be collaborating with her in some projects.

In 2008 she took part on a 2-day film school by the acclaimed Dov Simens, earning a certificate in Directing and Line Producing. Finally in 2011, she officially took up Motion Picture Production course and has since worked on a number of blockbuster movies in the Philippines. She also did a documentary on mental health, a passion project of a past Philippine president's daughter.

As a director, she loves working with actors and those who want to act in front of the camera; whether as a part-time job or a lifetime dream and has thus to conduct workshops modeled after Judith Weston's methods. Her workshop participants are of all nationalities that vary from kids, models, beginning actors, and professional actors. She loves to see their transformation during the workshop and helps them get the confidence and natural acting abilities.

In early 2015, she worked as the Casting Director for one of the biggest production companies in Thailand. She left the same year and began to write Person of Concern, finishing in March 2016 with a co-writer. The film, which she co-produces and will also direct, is now in the late stages of development and nearing pre-production. She has also written the screenplay of the movie Dr. H, now in the late stages of development.

Maria Ana Vivian "Bing" F. Nellasca is a Filipino film director, fiction & biographical screenwriter, producer, and an acting workshop instructor.

In 2008, she took part in a 2-day film school by the acclaimed Dov Simens' Hollywood Film Institute, earning a certificate in Directing and Line Producing. She then completed a full Motion Picture Production course in 2012 at the Asia Pacific Film Institute.

She directed the 2013 feature film "Pagari" which was commercially released in the Philippine theaters. She also wrote and directed the documentary, "A Journey Through The Mind", a passion project of the daughter of a former Philippine president, while writing "Himig Ng Pag-ibig", a musical war drama film.

In 2015, she worked as the Casting Director for one of the biggest production companies in Thailand. She left the same year and began to write a number of feature films, one of which is Person of Concern, a biopic of a Pakistani Christian who sought asylum in Thailand. The film, which she co-produces and will also direct, is now in the late stages of development.

She wrote the western drama film "Dollie" in 2016, the true story of Gabrielle Darley and how her lawsuit against the Red Kimono producers led to the passing of the Right to Privacy law in the United States. She also wrote the thriller-suspense "Soulless" for the actress-director-producer Katrina Grey of The Serpent and Daytime Nightmare. She's also written an animated full feature "I, Spirit" further expanding her versatility in writing across different genres.

Tapped to write the screenplay of Dr. H, the story of America's first serial killer loosely based on Dane Ladwig's book 'Dr. H.H. Holmes and the Whitechapel Ripper', she says while writing "It was gory and scary. I imagined the scenes as a normal viewer and felt like the scenes had seeped in my bones. It was cold-blooded. And then I realized, hey I wrote it!" The script received remarkable reviews and is being produced with A-list actors.

A short documentary she wrote, "Sama Dilaut", had its 2023 world premiere at Junction North International Documentary Film Festival in Canada and has won the Best International Short award. It also won the Best Environmental award in the 16th Toronto International Women Film Festival.

Bing continues to collaborate with international filmmakers on different projects. She also works as script consultant, film production consultant, and conducts acting workshops for all ages and nationalities. She is currently working on a new feature length documentary on mental health as its writer and director set to premiere this 2023.
