Joshua Ray(I)

Joshua Ray is an American actor. He was born to Cyndi Lovell and Edward Fisher in Denver, CO. He moved out of the city and to the small town of Hudson, CO when he was 8 years old. His parents divorced and he lived with his mom. After his only brother Trey went to live with there dad. Joshua found a love for performance in the fourth grade. Taking every opportunity from then out to perform, he studied his craft. The idea that he didn't' have to be himself was so amazing to him, people would see him how he wanted them to when he performed. During High School he competed in the National Forensics League, most know this as the debate team, but few realize how much else there is. He competed in the creative storytelling and the Drama categories. You had to prepare a 7-10 min piece, you could have as many characters as you wanted, but you had to play them all and you could only move 1 foot. So while he was doing shows with the Drama club he was also preparing for a future in film. Perfoming on a stage in front of hundreds of people requires a different style of acting than standing in the front of a classroom filled with people and judges. It much more closely relates to film acting. Having people only a few feet away judging you while you perform is film acting. After winning numerous awards and going to the state championship, Joshua joined a traveling theater in Tampa Bay, FL, were his brother Trey had moved to. Transitioning into performing as a professional. After returning to CO in 2003, he worked with some improv groups around the Denver area. He was cast as an original company member for the Gaslight theater in Denver, CO. After performing there for 1 year, he decided to leave the stage and pursue film full time.

He met Katherine Elizabeth Louder in 2002. He showed up on her doorstep and said you want to hold hands? They did hold hands and got married in 2005. They have 2 children together. "Without Kate, none of this is possible. She is the only reason this Bio exists. She has been there to support whatever crazy idea that comes out of my head".

With no knowledge of the film industry and no real place to start, he started looking through craigslist ads. He got together with Luke Willoughby and Dylan Pfohl. They had posted an Ad asking if anybody wanted to make a movie. They met in an iHop and decided to make a film. They ran into a few roadblocks, not quite understanding the whole process. So the inspiration came in the Castle Rock Film Festival. Joshua knew they had to get a film in this festival. After talking to Luke and Dylan, Luke began writing a script. With $500 and a weekend, Dylan shot the 30 min short Emcee. Luke Directed and Joshua starred in the film. They submitted it and were accepted into the festival. Mission accomplished, but what now? After making a few short films and some student films, he got an opportunity to co-star in the feature film Tokeasy from RMO Films. During production on Tokeasy he was cast as the lead character of the video game Relics 2, sadly the game has yet to release. Joshua has had the pleasure of working with many of the talented people around Colorado. He has been a regular team member for the 48 hr film project, it is one of his favorite things to do each year "The energy during a 48 hr is unlike anything else, when you're put with so many talented people and you only have a weekend, it can really open your eyes to filmmaking" Joshua continued to land roles working with new people and bigger projects. He did the film Mine to Keep, which again afforded him an opportunity to take on a lead role and begin to establish himself as a go to talent in the underground film scene. After a few more years of shorts and a the feature film The Digression State from the same trio of Joshua, Luke and Dylan. The film never really got released. Dylan moved on to filming action sports in Australia and Luke headed to New York. Joshua was left in Denver to continue the journey.

In early 2015 Joshua got the opportunity to audition for the feature film Hush Money from Grithouse Films. Using the last 8 years of film experience he landed the lead role of Douglas Shaw starring alongside Kennedy Waite who was brought in from LA. This was again a craigslist Ad. For the 8 years of Joshua's film career, he used craigslist and connections from craigslist. He has had brief representation over the years, but, getting to play great characters and put stuff on film comes at the cost of the production in CO. Most of the time if you get paid for a craigslist gig it is very minimal. People don't have the money to get talent, they usually have friends who come in and play characters. Joshua had over 15 years of acting experience to offer. Having the opportunity to play lead characters no matter the size of the production really gave Joshua an opportunity to hone his craft. It afforded him the chance to make mistakes and learn with other people. So when gritHouse Films asked him to take on the role of Doug, he was prepared to do it at the highest level. Hush Money will be making the film festival tour. The film has gotten great press and is on track for a limited theatrical release and nationwide distribution.
