- Tofiq Rzayev was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. He discovered his passion for filmmaking and storytelling at the age of 12 after watching Harmony Korine's Kids (1995) on television. His inspiration for filmmaking reached new heights upon being introduced to the works of Stanley Kubrick. This led him to fully devote himself to the art of filmmaking and writing.
From 2011 to 2016, Tofiq wrote and directed 16 short films. His writing often draws from his own fears, placing his characters in situations he himself would not dare to face.
