Biography

Shemeka Wright is a SAG-AFTRA actress known for grounded, commanding performances and emotionally complex women who carry authority, intelligence, and strength. With more than two decades of experience and over 30 screen credits, Wright brings a lived-in authenticity to characters ranging from attorneys, executives, investigators, and other power players to complicated mothers, confidantes, and women navigating high-stakes personal circumstances.

Her screen credits include Lifetime's Secrets in the Building (2022), June's Crown (2023), which premiered at the American Black Film Festival, More Than One (2019), Unshaken: The Knock (2025), and the digital series Chicken Girls: College Years. Across drama, thriller, and character-driven storytelling, her work is marked by emotional restraint, specificity, and the ability to communicate as much in silence as she does through dialogue.

Wright is also an accomplished writer, director, and producer. As founder of Wright Positive Films®, she develops and produces original scripted content centered on layered characters and stories where truth is rarely what it first appears to be. Her latest series, Glass House (2026), is a six-episode vertical drama that she created, wrote, produced, directed, and stars in.

Her experience behind the camera informs her work in front of it. Wright understands story beyond the individual performance tone, pacing, character function, visual storytelling, and what a scene needs to accomplish within the larger narrative. That perspective allows her to arrive prepared, make intentional choices, take direction, adjust quickly, and serve the story.
