Sophie Athena Leonard was born in Los Angeles, CA. She is the daughter of actress Betty Pearl Kennedy (now goes by Waters) and television producer Herbert B. Leonard. In her early years her mother moved Sophie and sister Annie Leonard to Reno Nevada in hopes they would experience a small town upbringing. There Sophie learned how to act and sing at the acting studio her mother opened soon after the move called Take 2 Performers studio. Sophie performed all around town with the singing group she joined and also participated heavily in her high school theatre program. Shorlty after her father passed Sophie moved to Los Angeles to start pursuing her dream of acting professionally.
