- Interdisciplinary artist, Ithaka Darin Pappas or simply Ithaka (photographer, sculptor, filmmaker, author, musician, actor) grew up in Southern California. He has traveled extensively, living and working in Japan, Greece, Portugal, Mexico and Brazil (where he spent ten years creating at his jungle studio, AkahtiLândia, in the State of São Paulo).
In addition to making short films and videos, Ithaka has released eight albums of original spoken-word-and ambient hip hop music. One of his tracks, "Escape From The City of Angels" was featured in the feature film The Replacement Killers directed by Antoine Fuqua. And his spoken word poem "So Get Up", first recorded in Manchester England in 1992, is one of the most remixed vocals in musical history, with versions by superstar DJs such as Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Linear North, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Dimiti Vegas & Like Mike.
His short-story series entitled, Fishdaddy Chronicles, has appeared in surfing magazines around the world and published as individual mini-books:
His photographic subjects in the sports, arts and entertainment world have included; Brian Wilson, Chaz Guest (artist), Chuck Liddell, Dr Dre, Eazy E, Giancarlo Esposito, Ice Cube, Jerome Lagarrique (artist), Keith Morris (Circle Jerks), Lea Thompson, NWA, PM Dawn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Takashi Murakami and musical producer Teddy Riley.
Furthermore, his abstract photographic art and body of sculpture work known as The Reincarnation of a Surfboard have been exhibited globally.
As character actor, Ithaka Darin Pappas has most recently appeared in the small role of "Pacorro", a Mexican asylum seeker, on the premiere episode of director Sam Levinson’s Season 3 "Euphoria" (HBO Max), . Both scenes in which Ithaka appears involve the lead character Rue Bennett, played by 2x Emmy winner Zendaya.
In the opening scene of the episode, Pacorro (played by Ithaka Darin Pappas) and friends push Rue’s car out of quicksand in the desert of Chihuahua, Mexico. Pacorro and his comrades later reappear on the US side of the border in Agua Dulce, Texas on the very same Greyhound bus that Rue has boarded to travel back to Los Angeles. Pacorro, who never knew her name, affectionately calls her "USA" fist pumping her as she walks to her seat and the entire bus breaks out with cheers of USA, USA, USA.
