- Jonathan Galland is a French composer, recipient of numerous art grants and music awards in more than 20 countries and six continents. He also received nominations alongside Alberto Iglesias, Gabriel Yared, Thomas Newman, Max Richter, Alexandre Desplat and James Newton Howard. Jonathan has composed music for animated shorts, feature films, advertising, public service announcements (PSAs), and figure skating shows featuring Olympic athletes, national champions and performers from Disney on Ice, Stars on Ice, and the Cirque du Soleil. Jonathan Galland has also created original music for three-time Olympic figure skater and four-time World champion Kurt Browning. Galland's music has been featured on Internet radio, in trade publications, reviewed by both film and music critics, and has been discussed on various film music blogs, podcasts, and at many film festivals around the world.
Classically trained from a young age as a violinist and through the French music conservatories, Galland later found his calling in the field of composition for motion pictures. He has earned a Master of Fine Arts in Music Production and Sound Design for Visual Media, with an emphasis on Film Scoring at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, and received his "Higher Education Teaching Certificate" from Harvard University.
Galland immigrated to the United States through the "Alien of Extraordinary Ability" Green Card (aka. the "Einstein Visa"). He is an approved submitter to the Academy Awards in the "Best Original Score" category and a member of the Recording Academy (hosts of the annual Grammy Awards), as well as the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS), where he has judged numerous times at the prestigious JUNO Awards. Galland was also on the voting panel of the 2021 World Soundtrack Awards in Belgium, with some of the biggest names in film music.
