- Sean Bodmer is a highly visible authority on the front-lines of cyber security with unique skills and industry perspective to advanced threat detection and analysis. Sean has been hacking since childhood in the late 1980's with his grandparent's first bought 'Apple IIe'. In 1993, Sean accessed NASA and 3 Department Of Motor Vehicle databases at the age of 16. Caught by his parents and turned over the authorities for cyber crime as a minor and served time in jail. For about 3 years he lived as a run-away living as a two-hatted cyberpunk using new found technology he could manipulate at early ages, assisted in his ability to fund his lifestyle, living off 1995-1997 global 'cart.pl' shopping cart vulnerability. By 1998 Sean returned home to the DC area later to alter his course to make-a-difference he was enlisted by National Security experts working in the DC area. Sean spent the next 12 years defending US National Security interests ranging throughout the Department of Defense, multiple Federal Civilian Agencies, and most of the National intelligence Agencies acknowledged his contributions to the Industry.
In 2014, Sean founded Pragmatik IO Solutions, llc (dba Cyberflage, llc) a Georgia based and operated product firm bringing Cyberflage(TM) to market as an offensive deception (an autonomous intruder-disinformation) system. Sean also co-founded Pragmatik IO Group, Inc in 2015 as well as sits on the technical advisory board on four (4) start-up technology firms, one (1) private security contracting firm, and one (1) private investigations firm in Los Angeles, California. Sean is also working on additional personally crafted inventions to prototype with a to-market strategy. Most notably, Terrarium a mixed realities reaction-response system, TerraJack(TM) a biological focused auto-protection system, and Halo an auto-tourniquet suit that has the potential design of the first real-life life saving armored body suit for our nation's war-fighters.
Bodmer's experience has ranged from building offensive tools and capabilities as well as their countermeasures ro responding to intrusions to repel an enemy invader from their beachhead networks. Sean, focuses his time on attacker countermeasure and persistent threat intrusion detection systems. Before Cyberflage(TM) and Pragmatik IO, Sean worked at CounterTack as Chief Researcher as well as Damballa where he led a threat Intelligence cell as a Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst under the direction of Gunter Ollmann. Today Sean where he was responsible for leading counter-intelligence and exploitation operations against crime-ware operators and their infrastructures. While at Damballa helped multiple US National Security initiatives some leading to apprehension of Internationally wanted malware authors.
An oft-cited security industry speaker, Bodmer also co-authored Hacking Exposed: Malware and Rootkits and Reverse Deception Organized Cyber Threat Counter-Exploitation, both published by McGraw-Hill. Reverse deception made number one (1) for twelve (12) weeks across China and has been translated in over 8 languages, and is currently in use by 8 US Universities as core materials for Master's level certificate programs. Sean, is working on Reverse Deception 2nd Edition, Artificial Increases in the Cyber-Arms Race an updated edition of their initial Winning Seller. His most recent works include Hacking Back: Offensive Cuber-Counterintelligence covering the trade-craft needed to actively combat and counter advanced or persistent threats faced by today's security professionals delayed and due out in Q4 2018. Sean has also been working with a Texas Based Film Production Studio and a Hollywood team to script a documentary film covering the modern life and exploits of Sean McDonald Bodmer with working title 'Crypt0k1d an original Cyberpunk playing professional' with interviews of those around him observing the chaotic rise of this young American entrepreneur and inventor.
