Biography

Marina Merlino is a Brazilian actress and one of the leads of the Netflix series Emergência Radioativa (2025), which reached the platform’s Top 10 in multiple countries, marking a significant step in her international visibility.

She gained recognition as the protagonist of the international feature film Las Preñadas (Brazil/Argentina, 2023, Pedro Wallace), screened at the 44th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana and at over 20 festivals across the Americas. For this role, she received the Best Actress award at the XI International Film Festival of Calzada de Calatrava (Spain, 2024), and a Special Mention for Best Actress in the official competition of the Goya Film Festival (Argentina, 2023).

Marina began her professional career in theatre at the age of 16, growing up in a family of artists - the daughter of a playwright and director, and a dancer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from ECA/USP and trained at the School of Theatre and Cinema in Lisbon. In 2026, she will further her training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the United Kingdom. Her training also includes work on the Stanislavski and Meierhold systems with Maria Thais Lima Santos, and Shakespeare studies with Brian Stirner (RADA).

Her screen work includes Rule 34 (Julia Murat, Golden Leopard winner at Locarno), The Friendly Man (Iberê Carvalho), and A Idade da Água (Orlando Senna), as well as television projects such as Auto Posto (Paramount/Comedy Central), Raul Seixas: Metamorfose Ambulante (Globoplay), Feras (MTV), and 3% (Netflix).

She is fluent in English and Spanish, and has a basic knowledge of Italian and French.
