Raised in rural Vermont, Katie Elmore Mota is an Emmy-nominated writer/showrunner, producer, and director who was named one of the National Diversity Council's Top 50 Women in Entertainment. She is the founder and co-president of Wise Entertainment, who has a first look deal for TV at Amazon Studios.
Katie has several shows and films in development with various studios including one set at Amazon. She recently wrote a remake of the Golden Globe nominated film The Burning Bed for Jon Avnet to direct. She was an executive producer on Shine On with Reese (Witherspoon), a hit docuseries featuring the stories of trailblazing women now streaming on Netflix, and show-ran Season 2 of Five Points, the Kerry Washington-produced drama series on Facebook Watch. She served as executive producer, co-showrunner, and director of East Los High, where she was nominated for six Emmy awards, including one for directing the finale event. Prior to Wise, Katie worked internationally for seven years developing and producing local television and radio dramatic series that dealt with relevant social and health issues.
Katie serves on the advisory board of Hollywood Health and Society through the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center and has participated as a mentor for Women in Film and the PGA. She penned a piece for Time Magazine's Motto called "Diversity is About More Than Checking Boxes."
