Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Aravind Vijayakumar is an award-winning Sound Designer, Sound Editor, ADR Editor, ADR Mixer, and Foley Supervisor based in Mumbai, India. With nearly two decades of experience in audio post-production, he has contributed to more than 300 films, web series, short films, and digital campaigns across Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Konkani, and Arabic productions.

As the founder of Mystic River Audio LLP, Aravind has built a diverse body of work spanning theatrical features, streaming originals, international co-productions, independent cinema, and advertising. His selected sound design credits include Barzakh, Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam, Youngraad, Blank, Mah-e-Mir, Prawaas, Verna, The Martial Artist, Teefa in Trouble, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Gunjal, John, Hope, and Convoluted. His work often traverses romance, noir, psychological drama, magical realism, action, horror, and stories rooted in everyday human experience.

Beyond sound design, he has worked extensively as an ADR Editor, ADR Mixer, Sound FX Editor, and Foley Supervisor on projects including Minnal Murali, The White Tiger, Monkey Man, Saare Jahan Se Accha, Gehraiyaan, Girls Will Be Girls, Dug Dug, Roar- Tigers of the Sunderbans, Unfreedom, and numerous feature films and streaming productions.

Alongside long-form storytelling, Aravind has designed and mixed sound for more than 50 digital commercials, branded films, and advertising campaigns for leading international and regional brands, including Real Madrid World Dubai, Amazon, IndusInd Indie, Triumph Motorcycles, TVS Motor Company, The Body Shop, Birla Opus, Axis Bank, Samsonite, Bosch, Polycab, Aditya Birla Group, Astral, UP Warriorz, and Luminous.

His work has earned industry recognition including the IRAA Award for Best Sound Designer for "Youngraad", the IRAA Award for Best ADR Engineer for "Haseena Parkar", and the Grand Jury Award for Best Sound Design at Film Invasion Lima 2026 for the Bahraini short film "Hope". He was also a finalist at the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Golden Reel Awards for his ADR editing work on "Roar- Tigers of the Sunderbans" and "Unfreedom".

Inspired by the musical worlds of Vidyasagar, Ouseppachan, and A. R. Rahman, and the storytelling sensibilities of filmmakers such as Fazil, Mani Ratnam, Priyadarshan, and Kamal, Aravind approaches sound as an emotional language. Whether building the atmosphere of a noir, the intimacy of a drama, the unease of horror, or the wonder of magical realism, his focus remains the same: to deepen the audience's connection with the story.

For Aravind, sound is not merely accompaniment- it is the breath between moments, the echo of what we feel but cannot say.
