Biography

Since 2011, Jaime Villa Ruiz has been honing his craft as a filmmaker to create striking moving images that tell compelling narratives. His projects have taken him around the world with clients like Amazon Studios, Awesomeness TV, Fandango, Facebook Watch, Flex, LA Metro, Lifetime/ AE, Nike, and many more.

In 2014, he won a Craft Award at NYU's First Run Festival for his cinematography in the short The Banaue Boy. His first feature film as a cinematographer, Pecado Original, won Best Foreign Film at the DTLA Film Festival in 2018, continuing its festival run at the Austin Film Festival and the Chicago Latino Film Festival among others. The film is now distributed by HBO, and AppleTV+.
