Biography

Angello was born in Bogotá, Colombia and studied filmmaking at ESCAC in Barcelona. He works as a filmmaker and cinematographer who actively balance narrative, documentary and commercial work. His short film DULCE (2018) released by NYT Op Docs was selected in Sundance, Toronto, IDFA, among other film festivals and won Best Documentary at Palm Springs Film Fest and Gran Prix at Tampere Film Festival. LAPÜ (2019) his first feature had its World Premiere at Sundance and the European Premiere at the Berlinale and won Best Cinematography at the Boston Film Festival. His next feature film MILESTONE (2020) shot in India, had its world premiere at the Orizzonti section at the Venice International Film Festival and is now available to watch on NETFLIX. His next films, actually in post-production are: CARRO PASAJERO (2023) a hybrid-documentary shot in La Guajira Desert, in Colombia co-produced by Germany and Colombia and supported by the World Cinema Fund and FDC. WHERE THE SILENCE PASSES (2023) is a narrative film supported by TVE, Canal Sur, ICAA and developed at the Script Lab at Berlinale. Nowadays Angello is prepping his sixth feature: THE ANATOMY OF HORSES (2023) a western that will take place in the Andes Mountains in Peru during September of 2023. The film is a peruvian-spanish co-production supported by World Cinema Fund and ICAA.
