Tushar Ajgaonkar is a screenwriter, filmmaker and creative producer based in Mumbai, with over 20 years of experience across feature films, series, advertising, documentaries and branded content.
He is known for writing Munjya (2024) and The Secret of the Shiledars (2025). He is also the lead writer of Talakala (2026), an upcoming folk-horror feature produced by Famous Studios, for which he wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues.
Tushar has also been part of the core creative and development teams behind several commissioned entertainment projects, including a feature-length film on India's first Olympic gold medallist, Abhinav Bindra; a web series chronicling the Ramsay Brothers, the family that pioneered India's low-budget cult horror cinema; and the official biographical web series on the life and work of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao.
Alongside his entertainment work, Tushar has built an extensive career as a director and creative producer, having directed and produced hundreds of advertising commercials, infomercials and documentaries. His work spans filmmaking, storytelling and marketing communications, and has involved collaborations with many of India's leading brands.
Tushar previously co-founded Fable Films and The TaleSmith, film-production ventures through which he worked across creative development, direction and production.
His original work is rooted in Indian culture, folklore and genre storytelling, with a particular interest in the supernatural, the mythic and the human condition.
On a personal note, Tushar's journey has been anything but conventional. At the age of eleven, he began working as a construction labourer, eventually working his way to earning a distinction in Computer Engineering. He is also a MENSA member, placed in the top one percentile of high-IQ individuals globally.
Born to a Konkani father and a Bengali mother, Tushar grew up in Igatpuri, a colonial railway town whose plural society included Anglo-Indians and communities from across India. This culturally rich and dramatically textured upbringing continues to inform his storytelling.
A natural storyteller, Tushar finds expression in many forms, from the silver screen and stories shared with his son to elaborate meals crafted for family and friends.
For him, storytelling is about finding the mystery in the familiar and the human in the extraordinary.
