Biography

Clive Rice was born on July 23, 1949 in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. He died on July 28, 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.

He was the first post-apartheid captain of South Africa's cricket team. Most of his career took place during South Africa's 20-year isolation from international competition because of apartheid policies. He was 42 when he made his official international debut.

He played in 482 first-class matches for Transvaal, Natal, and Nottinghamshire, scoring 26,331 runs at an average of 40.95.
