Kumud Pant

Kumud Pant is a Nepali-British actor, model, director, writer, film producer, entrepreneur, and social worker whose career spans more than three decades across Nepal and the United Kingdom. Known for his dedication to cinema as well as humanitarian work, Pant follows a vegetarian lifestyle and strongly believes in giving back to society, donating around 10% of his earnings to social and community welfare initiatives.

Pant was born in the Dang district of Nepal, a Himalayan nation renowned for the majestic Himalayas and Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. He grew up in the rural village of Teraute in Dang, where he spent his early childhood surrounded by nature and traditional village life. Pant comes from a large academic family. His father, Tika Datta Pant, was a respected English teacher at Rajhena High School, where he also taught his son during his school years. His mother, Bidhyabati Pant, is also a teacher and the founder of Teraute Primary School in Dang, Nepal. Later in life, Pant brought his mother to the United Kingdom so that he could personally care for her, and she now lives there. Pant grew up in a large family of twelve members, including his parents, two brothers, and eight sisters.

Pant developed a passion for acting and modelling from a young age. At the age of 15, he became fascinated with cinema and frequently watched Nepali and Hindi films in local cinema halls in Dang. These early experiences inspired his dream of becoming an actor. While studying at Rajhena High School, an interesting event occurred during his teenage years when a girl from the same school proposed marriage to him when he was 16 years old. Pant politely declined the proposal, choosing instead to focus on his education and future ambitions. Later, at the age of 25 in 1996, while working in acting and modelling in Kathmandu, another young woman proposed marriage to him. At the time, Pant was concentrating on building his career and planning his future, and he respectfully declined, explaining that he intended to travel to the United Kingdom to continue his studies and pursue broader opportunities.

Pant completed his early education at Rajhena High School, passing the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination in 1989. He later continued his higher education at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Dang, where he completed his Intermediate of Arts (IA) in 1995 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1997. During this time he continued developing his interest in acting, modelling, and performing arts.

Pant began his professional journey in 1995 with a modelling assignment for the Nepali magazine Satya Katha. Soon afterward, he entered the Nepali film industry and made his screen debut in the film Janma Janma, appearing in a supporting role. During the early stage of his career, he worked in films, television series, music videos, and commercials across Nepal.

In 1998, Pant migrated to the United Kingdom to pursue wider opportunities while continuing his creative career. During his early years in the UK, he balanced his passion for entertainment with various jobs to support himself. Between 1998 and 2003, he worked at Bengal Brasserie Restaurant in Rochester, Kent, starting as a waiter and later progressing to a managerial role over a period of about five years. In 2003, he also worked agency jobs in Plumstead, South East London.

In 2002, Pant completed a diploma in Computer Maintenance from Greenwich Community College, Plumstead, London. In 2004, he won the "Face of 2004" competition in Plumstead, London, receiving a prize of £500. To support his livelihood, in 2004 he also worked for five years as a warehouse operative at Lidl in Belvedere.

In 2009, Pant moved to Aldershot, where he worked as a security officer for two years with Prosite Security. Later, from 2011 to 2023, he worked as a security officer with Total Security Services in London for over twelve years. Alongside these roles, he continued pursuing his passion for the entertainment industry, working in acting, modelling, directing, and production, and participating in television series, films, commercials, and other creative media projects in the United Kingdom.

In 2018, Pant entered the restaurant business and founded Kathmandu Durbar Restaurant in Egham, located in the Borough of Runnymede. The business operated through NK Biz Services Ltd, where he served as founder and director. After running the restaurant successfully for about two years, the company was later sold.

In his personal life, Pant married in 2018; however, the marriage ended within the same year. He has no children and is currently single.

In 2023, Pant faced a significant personal challenge after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Due to health reasons, he stepped away from his long-term role as a security officer the same year and reduced his involvement in film and creative work from 2023 onwards. His treatment is ongoing, and while he has made progress, he has not yet fully recovered.

Throughout his career, Pant has appeared in more than 100 creative projects, including feature films, short films, and productions connected with international film industries such as Hollywood, Bollywood, and Kollywood. One of his most ambitious projects is the film Kumude Hidyo Hero Banna, which represents a major milestone in his filmmaking journey as an actor, director, and producer.

Pant has maintained a disciplined lifestyle focused on health and fitness, regularly exercising and going to the gym since the age of 16. Beyond cinema, he has been involved in social work since his teenage years in Nepal. Since around 2020, while living in the United Kingdom, he has expanded his humanitarian and community initiatives internationally.

From his humble beginnings in a small village in Dang to building an international career in film, business, and social work, Kumud Pant’s journey reflects perseverance, resilience, creativity, and a strong commitment to social responsibility.
