Mini bio

  • Born in Algiers to a Dutch father and French mother, Anastasia Cummings hails from Algeria and Congo-Kinshasa where her ardor for film began in a community of artists. After working in Europe, she began her career in the film industry, training as a script and continuity supervisor in Los Angeles where she lived for many years. Her directorial debut "Eight Forty Six" (2011), recalled the tragedy of 9/11 around time and a relationship. Inspired by stories from her time in Europe, Cummings directed the award-winning short film CODA (2012) that explored a musical legacy from East Germany to present day America. With a reputation for high production values, she produced the award-winning shorts "Jack In The Box" (2013) adapted from the Ray Bradbury short story and German language film, "Menschen" (2013) about disability in the last days of WWII. Fluent in three languages, Cummings has been an intermediary in translation and international co-productions and has applied her linguistic talents to close captioning and translation work with Zoo Digital for major studios, broadcasters, and content distributors internationally for Netflix, Disney and Magnolia Pictures among others. She continues to work extensively as a Script Supervisor. Her credits include work with Netflix, NBC Universal, Focus Feature, ABC and National Geographic. In 2014, she co-authored 'Open Collaborations in Film' and participated in the presentation at the United Nations in Geneva in the World Intellectual Property Organization's conference on Open Innovation. Based in New Mexico, Anastasia works on domestic and international projects.
