Melvin Bliss was born on June 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He died on July 23, 2010 in Queens, New York City, New York, USA.

Best known for his 1973 song "Synthetic Substitution", which has been sampled in hundreds of hip-hop songs.

Served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Is buried in Calverton National Cemetary in New York.
