Guy Larsen

Biography

Guy Larsen

Mini bio

  • Guy Larsen is a writer and director based in England.

He works in a range of forms including film, commercials, documentaries, podcasts and music videos, with a particular focus on stop motion animation. His clients include Instagram, Samsung and Sony, and has directed music videos for artists like dodie, Orla Gartland and Cavetown.

Guy's style is playfully dark, irreverent and offbeat. His work has been screened at international film festivals, has won Lovie Awards and has been honoured at the Webby Awards. He was selected as part of BAFTA Connect 2023.

His background is in digital video production. He got his start during the boom of YouTube, with the unexpected viral success of a 'poetry music video' he made with friends - a collaboration with poet Mark Grist and the Roundhouse. Aged 22, he began working at Google/YouTube with the popular YouTube channel 'Vsauce', shooting and editing episodes that explored our curiosity. During that time, the channel won multiple Webby Awards, with Guy's editing nominated for Best Editing at the 2015 Streamys.

His music video for Cavetown's 'Green' won at the Berlin Music Video Awards in 'Best Narrative', was screened at Encounters Film Festival and was honoured at the Webby Awards 2019 for Animated Video.

In 2016 he founded Penny4, a digital-first production company focused on video content for creators and brands online. Penny4 made music videos, and grew to produce documentaries, entertainment series for global streamers, commercials and a YouTube channel with educator Tom Scott, amassing millions of views along the way and winning three Lovie Awards.
