Tina Pakravan is an Iranian-American film director, screenwriter, and producer celebrated for her powerful storytelling at the intersection of history, culture, and human experience. She is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD, USA), the Iranian Film Directors Guild, and the Iranian Producers Guild.
She began gaining international recognition with her short film It Was My City (Inja Shahre Man Bood) - an 8.5-minute single-shot wartime drama depicting the sudden impact of conflict on civilians. The film earned major international accolades, including: . Best Short Award (Asia International Competition) and the Governor of Tokyo Award - Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, Tokyo (Oscar-qualifying festival) . Grand Prize, Short Film Competition - Aichi International Women’s Film Festival, Japan . Featured in "Hub of Asia: Iranian Women Directors" - Busan International Short Film Festival, South Korea . Best Short Film - Toronto Iranian Film Festival, Canada, along with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Federal Parliament of Canada . Best Short Film - Vacaville Film Festival, California, USA . She has directed several feature films, including « Lady », the only Iranian feature supported by UNICEF - as well as « It Happened at Midnight » and « Los Angeles-Tehran ».
Her recent work for Iranian streaming platforms includes the historical series Once Upon a Time in Iran (Khatoon) and Tasian, each consisting of 23 episodes, all written and directed by Pakravan. These productions are among the largest-scale historical dramas on Iranian platforms and have earned her Best Director and Best Screenplay awards from the Directors Guild of Iran.
She also produced Yahya Didn’t Keep Quiet (2015), directed by Kaveh Ebrahimpour, which received: . Best Feature Film - Tripoli Film Festival, Lebanon .
