Biography

Joseph Michael Barrios is an actor/musician, known for his most recent roles in American Crime Story(2018) and Ballers (2016). Joseph was born in Miami, Florida, to parents: Dr. Humberto Barrios, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and Beverley McLellan Barrios, a retired Nurse Manager. His father is of Cuban-Spanish heritage, a first generation immigrant fleeing Cuba during the Castro regime in the early 1960's. His mother is a naturalized US citizen, immigrating from Canada with ancestries leading back Scotland and the British Isles. According to historical documents, Joseph can even trace his lineage to Highland nobility! Joseph is the eldest of six children and comes from a close and supportive family.

During his preschool years, his grandmother, Roberta McLellan, introduced Joseph to the love of music. An accomplished violinist with an advance degree from the London Royal School of Music, she mentored him and encouraged him with performance in church choirs. Piano lessons ensued, followed by the guitar, drums and percussion. With mastery, he went on to perform as a teenager, leading church groups in organized worship with his musical talent. It was a natural transition for him to the Miami-Dade College, graduating with a dual degree in Music Business Creative Production and Theater. Using his skill set, Joseph went on to form an unstoppable production team (CASHAE) and has quickly begun to make waves in the industry, writing and producing their own genre of music and beats, as well as promoting other rising artists.

In tandem with his musical interests, Joseph quickly embraced opportunities as a budding actor. In fact, his first acting class in elementary school awoke a passion that fuels his dreams and creativity today. Joseph pursued acting while in high school, performing in many live dramas on stage and competing at the state level for dramatic competitions, where he was noted for his natural talent. Inducted into the International Thespian Society validated Joseph's vision to continue with developing his acting career while in college. On-screen experience followed as Joseph worked on a number of student and independent films in collaboration with :The Miami Art Institue, Miami-Dade College and the University of Miami. Recent involvement in the industry has given rise to opportunities behind the scenes on set in the area of production as well. Joseph's love for writing and producing music, and passion for acting, fuels his vision for success in his promising future as an artist.
