Arka Das is an actor, writer and filmmaker whose work spans stage, film, television and documentary. He is the writer, associate producer and star of Here Out West, the acclaimed Western Sydney anthology feature that opened the Sydney Film Festival and went on to earn an AACTA nomination for Best Film. He also wrote and presented the ABC documentary series 8 Nights Out West, created to accompany the film’s television premiere. Arka has been nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor and an AWGIE Award for Best Original Feature Film.
Arka’s recent screen work includes Stan’s medical drama The F Ward in which he stars alongside Anna Friel, and garnering a premiere at MIFF 2026, The Airport Chaplain for SBS & Netflix globally, starring alongside Hugo Weaving. His other television credits include Apple TV's Shantaram & Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Colin From Accounts, Bali 2002, Utopia, Safe Home, Prosper, Top of the Lake: China Girl, Frayed and regular roles on Australian drama Pulse. His feature film credits include the Academy Award-nominated Lion, The Portable Door, Disney’s live-action Mulan, Thor: Love and Thunder and UnIndian. On stage Arka made his debut at the Griffin Theatre and later starred in Beached directed by Shannon Murphy, The Seagull at Sydney Theatre Company and was also nominated for best newcomer at the Sydney theatre critics award for Animals Out of Paper at the Ensemble Theatre.
As a filmmaker, Arka has created web-series' and several short films & documentaries. He co-wrote and directed the short film Khana Khazana, which premiered in competition at Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, LA Shorts, St Kilda Film Festival and the International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto alongside others. He is currently developing his debut feature film and other television projects supported by Screen Australia. Arka was also an international jury at Flickerfest and selected as a participant in the Diaspora Story Lab for Co-Curious in 2026.
