Dwight Jon Zimmerman was born on 2 June 1953 in Harvey, North Dakota, USA. He is a producer, known for First Command (2005). He is married to Joëlle. They have two children.
He graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in Devils Lake, North Dakota 1971. Two years later, he graduated from the North Dakota State College of Science with a diploma in Graphic Arts. He then went to work for the University of North Dakota Press for three years before moving to New York City to pursue his writing career.
