Lisa Jay was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and lived there until she went to Stephen's College, graduating with a Fine Arts degree, and also studying at Oxford University. She began working in film in 2011 as an art director for small independent films in New Mexico. She subsequently moved on to directing and writing. Focusing on the horror and thriller genres, she writes supernatural and folk horror features.
