Biography

Arturo Ambriz is a director, writer, and producer from Mexico City. He and his brother (Roy Ambriz) founded Cinema Fantasma, a film, animation, and art studio located in Mexico City in 2011. Their stop-motion short film Revoltoso (Rebellious) was financed with a successful campaign in Fondeadora, another one in Kickstarter, a scholarship, and the support of several executive producers. One of the main mentors for this project was Guillermo del Toro, who in addition to donating money, helped with advice to strengthen the project and reach the final cut. While they were producing Revoltoso they made seven animated projects for Cartoon Network Latin America, which became the first client of Cinema Fantasma. They were free adaptations of Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, Clarence, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Uncle Grandpa. These short films aired for ten months on Cartoon Network and led to the directors being invited to Cartoon Network in Burbank to exhibit them, show the puppets, and screen other projects. Because of the 25 years anniversary of the Nicktoons, they made a 6 seconds Vine of El Tigre commissioned by Nickelodeon. They have produced eight projects for Adult Swim, including two IDs of Rick and Morty. They made video clips for the Danish band WhoMadeWho the American group Band Of Horses, and Kyle Cook, getting successful results with very positive reviews. In October 2021 they released their animated series Frankelda Book of Spooks in HBO Max with positive reviews.
