Gjermund Eriksen is an International Emmy-awarded writer, director and producer.
Eriksen is the creator and showrunner of Norwegian hit TV series, Mammon (2014), which has been remade into both a Polish (Pakt) and Czech (Mamon) version by HBO. He is also the creator of the comedic noir series, For Life (2020), commissioned by the Norwegian broadcaster NRK. Eriksen is additionally the creator, showrunner and director of Furia (2021), a political thriller series about how polarization and right wing extremist violence are being nurtured and grown to rip the continent apart. The second season will air in Europe and US early 2024.
The last 6 years he has also been pod-casting and commenting on US politics for the public broadcaster in Norway about US-elections and polarization processes in European politics, linking both his show-running - and strategist experiences. The show was changed into Popcorn and Politics in 2021. He left to showrun - and direct most of - Furia 2, shot in Lofoten, Oslo, Budapest, and Warsaw.
Eriksen hails from Mysen, a small town 70 kilometers south of Norway's capital, Oslo. He studied English literature, language and culture at the University of Oslo before starting work at the Institute of Culture Studies. After 10 years in the communications industry, NRK picked up his script for Mammon (2014), and he could finally dive wholeheartedly into a writing/producing career. Mammon became an incredibly successful series and won an International Emmy Award for best drama. When his next season of Furia airs, he is also directing, focusing on invigorating the Nordic thriller-drama into more warm and emotional visuality without losing the suspense.
