- Stephan attended 3 other schools before finishing with his BFA at Columbia College Hollywood. Those schools were an HBCU, Shaw University, in North Carolina, then he came back to his home town of Indianapolis and attended community college Ivy Tech for a semester while working. After his mother suggested film school while he was at home, he then saved up enough money to move to Los Angeles with his brother, the writer, and start his journey in film school at the New York Film Academy. After tuition was an issue for him, one of his directing professors also taught at Columbia, and suggested that he apply at CCH and that he would do his best to get him in.
