Robert Carter was born on September 23, 1952 in Jamestown, New York, USA. He was married to Ginger Carter, Jane Carter and Pamela Freeman Wolfe. He died on May 16, 2017 in Florida, USA.

Had 7 children: Ginger Lee Carter (1972-2023) with his first ex-wife; Nick Carter (b. 1980), Bobbie Jean Carter (b. 1982), Leslie Carter (1986-2012), twins Aaron Carter (1987-2022) and Angel Carter (b. 1987) with his second ex-wife Jane Eleonora Schneck (née Spaulding, previously Carter); and Kaden Brent Carter (b. 2005) with third wife (later widow) Ginger Carter.

Father-in-law of Mike Ashton.

Had three granddaughters, Tayler (b. 1996), Carly (b. 2007) and Alyssa (b. 2011).
