David Bain is a seasoned Assistant Director, Production Manager, and Writer with over two decades of experience in media and education. He has dedicated his career to creating impactful stories and empowering underserved communities through youth leadership programs and media literacy education.
Since 2001, David has developed and led programs that engage at-risk youth in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens. He is the founder of Reel Justice Works, an annual 10-week media literacy workshop series at Rikers Island Academy. Designed for incarcerated youth aged 16-21, the program uses media as a tool to foster self-expression and critical thinking, helping participants develop skills and strategies to reduce recidivism.
David served as First Assistant Director on the documentary "Back Door Channels: The Price of Peace", which earned an Emmy Award for its exploration of the peace process between Israel and Egypt. His role in the project exemplifies his ability to manage complex productions while contributing to meaningful, socially relevant narratives.
Beyond high-profile projects, David's career spans a wide range of work, including independent films, community-driven media initiatives, and youth-focused programming. His early experience began with an internship at Island Def Jam's video production department, sparking a passion for visual storytelling.
