Biography

Cara Brennan is an American actress and writer. She competes in the sport of strongwoman (she placed third at North American Nationals in 2020), and channels her love of action and meaning-driven physicality into storytelling and writing; she also contributes to BarBend magazine. She wrote and developed the action-thriller web-series Asher (2017-2019) with her creative partner Jack Payne (together they are Lonely Cow Productions) and is currently developing a feature film based on the concept.

Cara is a genre filmmaker, director, actress, writer, and national champion in the sport of strongwoman. Her directorial feature debut, Werewolf Game, is in post-production. She co-writes and produces with her creative partner, Jackie Payne, for their Brooklyn-based company, Sunstrike Pictures. Together they have produced a web series (Asher), short films, and a feature film (Werewolf Game, which they jointly directed), as well built a catalogue of original narrative IP.

She is an American national champion in the sport of strongwoman (160 lbs class, 3rd place, 2020, SC), and has written about strength sports and self-development as a contributor for BarBend since 2016.

Cara was raised in Arlington, VA, and Blue Ridge, PA; the middle child in a big Irish Catholic family. She moved to Brooklyn, NY in 2007, where she still lives.
