- Born and raised in Mumbai, Simaab Hashmi’s lifelong fascination with cinema naturally led him toward storytelling. An alumnus of St. Xavier's College, he began his career working with production houses such as UTV Studios and Sanjay Dutt Productions.
His breakthrough as a writer came with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on StarPlus, where his contestant Nitesh Shetty emerged as the first runner-up under the mentor-ship of Akshay Kumar. He also wrote Majaal Hai, a short film starring Dayashankar Pandey, which was officially selected at the New York Indian Film Festival, IFFSA Toronto, and the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival.
Simaab later adapted Marvel's Wastelanders for Audible India, re-imagining the Marvel universe for Hindi audiences with performances by Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
He served as Writer and Executive Producer on Real Kashmir Football Club, a Sony LIV Original series released in December 2025.
His upcoming slate includes a sports drama with JA Entertainment, the next installment in the Force franchise starring John Abraham and Harshvardhan Rane, as well as a Japan-set action comedy with Bombay Fables Motion Pictures.
Beyond writing, Simaab enjoys curating playlists, revisiting his ever-growing superhero comic book collection, and navigating the emotional roller-coaster that is supporting Liverpool F.C..
