Shane in the DI Theatre on the Digital Vision NUCODA.
Shane Burrell is an Australian filmmaker and colourist with over 20 years' experience, specialising in colour grading and documentary cinematography. Founder of boutique post-production studio Final Post, Shane is passionate about crafting cinematic imagery that serves story, whether in the grading suite or behind the camera. Drawn to challenging humanitarian environments, he has worked on numerous documentary features and series. Shane is currently co-directing and producing POLINA (We Are Waiting) with his wife Agnieszka - a lyrical portrait of a young Ukrainian girl coming of age amid the devastation of war.

Shane began his professional career in 1999, right as digital editing systems were becoming mainstream. But his love for filmmaking started long before that - back in the days of VHS, when "non-linear editing" meant juggling two tape decks and praying you didn't hit rewind on the wrong machine. Armed with nothing more than patience and a dodgy pause button, he cut together funny videos for his local church, unknowingly laying the foundation for a lifelong career in storytelling.

In 2011, Shane shifted focus from editing to colour grading, combining his passion for post-production and cinematography. He built one of the first independent DI theatres in Newcastle, Australia, equipped with a full Digital Vision NUCODA system, giving indie filmmakers access to high-end tools usually reserved for larger productions. This vision grew into Final Post, a boutique post-production facility designed to deliver world-class results with agile, efficient workflows.

Alongside his colour work, Shane has developed a strong voice as a documentary cinematographer, drawn to challenging humanitarian environments where stories of resilience emerge. His recent projects include editing the experimental feature Three Chords and the Truth, as well as multiple documentary features and series.

Since 2022, Shane and his wife, Agnieszka, are co-directing and producing POLINA (We Are Waiting) - a feature documentary following a young Ukrainian girl navigating adolescence and healing amid the ruins of war. The film blends vérité, memory, and dreamlike imagery to explore hope and survival in the face of conflict.
