- Martijn Daamen is a Dutch screenwriter, producer, and film industry professional with over fifteen years of experience across a wide range of Dutch film and television productions.
A self-taught writer, Daamen developed his craft through an intense dedication to reading and writing, and honed his storytelling instincts by competing in 48-hour film projects: a pressure-cooker format that sharpens both speed and creative discipline. Through these early projects he built the professional network that would come to define his career, collaborating with a close-knit community of Dutch filmmakers across a diverse body of work.
As a writer and producer, Daamen has been involved in a broad range of projects, including the acclaimed short films Magazijn (2013), On Air (2019), and Amy & I (2022). His work is marked by a consistent commitment to character-driven storytelling, recognized with multiple wins and nominations at various film festivals and competitions.
In recent years, Daamen has increasingly focused on his role as production coordinator and executive producer in documentary filmmaking. His most recent project, Milou's strijd gaat door (2025), became the most-watched documentary in the Netherlands in 2025 and was selected as the Dutch entry for the International Emmy Awards 2026.
Beyond writing and producing, Daamen has contributed to the Dutch film industry in numerous capacities, including script editing and location management, reflecting a deep understanding of the filmmaking process from development through to production.
