Maxwell Peters is an American writer, director, producer, actor, and theatre artist whose work spans television, film, and the stage.
Born in the Philippines, Peters was adopted and raised in Connecticut. He began his career as a child actor in New York, appearing on Broadway in The King and I and Les Misérables before later touring nationally with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. He went on to attend Emerson College in Boston, where he studied Entertainment Business with a specialization in Producing.
After graduating, Peters moved to Los Angeles and joined The Walt Disney Company, working in casting and talent relations across Disney Channel and Disney XD. He later joined AwesomenessTV during its early years, working in talent management before moving into producing, directing, and writing. His work during this period also included projects for Seventeen, Beautycon, All Def Digital, Nickelodeon, and Popsugar.
As a writer, Peters contributed to the second season of Hulu’s PEN15, which received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. His additional writing work has included projects connected to Netflix’s To All the Boys franchise and Amazon’s The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Peters later relocated to Chicago, where he returned his focus to theatre while continuing his work as a writer. As a director and educator, he spent several years developing and directing work with young artists while leading a visual and performing arts program. His theatre work has encompassed new plays, musicals, classical texts, and the development of his own work as a playwright.
In 2026, Peters returned to New York to pursue an MFA at Columbia University, bringing his career back to the city and the art form where it began. He is also an alumnus of the British American Drama Academy in Oxford.
