- Keenan James is an American screenwriter/filmmaker from Newport News, VA. He has been a writer since the age of eight, penning poems and short stories for friends, school programs, and personal recreation.
He received his first taste of the entertainment industry as a celebrity club promoter in Hampton Roads, VA. After years of successful events, he transitioned into the music business as a producer signed to Chris Lighty's "Violator Management". Upon traveling and meeting more creatives, Keenan was inspired to utilize his unspoken talent as writer to create his first short film, which prompted a trip to Los Angeles. After spending some time in LA, Keenan made a clear decision to switch career paths and jump right in to writing & producing for TV & Film.
Since the transition to TV & Film, Keenan has written and produced various projects, including his first Hollywood shot film, "LA Temptation", starring Melvin Jackson Jr, who plays the role Hip Hop Icon, "Kurtis Blow" in Bet's New Edition Film.
Keenan's inspiration for writing comes from what he says is "the fine line between art imitating life, with a flare of pure fantasy".
