Alejandro D. Orengo Colón is a Puerto Rican filmmaker based in the western region of Puerto Rico. His work as a director focuses on intimate interpersonal dramas and the emotional complexities of families, couples, and friendships. Drawing from realism and docu-fiction filmmaking, his films often use handheld camerawork and restrained editing to create an intimate, observational approach to storytelling.
Orengo Colón began directing with Alex y Fabio Ya No Están (2013), followed by Anacrusa (2022), Asterión: ó Si Te Metes Con El Toro (2024) and Caen Hojas Blancas (2026). His films have screened internationally at festivals including the New Orleans Film Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Philadelphia Latino Film Festival, and Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival.
Alongside directing, Orengo Colón works as an editor across narrative films, documentaries, music videos, and commercial projects. His editing credits include El Jacho: Una Leyenda Puertorriqueña (2024), Trapo Sucio (2024), En Duda, Siempre a la Izquierda (2025) and Engreída (2025).
He is developing his first feature film with longtime collaborator Edwards A. Martínez Cruz.
