Sarah grew up in the small central California town of Three Rivers. Her father, Patrick (Pat), worked for the National Park Service in Sequoia National Park, which is minutes from Three Rivers. Her mother, Helen, was an educator in Farmersville, about 30 minutes from Three Rivers.
