  • Len Tepper is an American investigative journalist. His current role is Executive Director of the Investigative Unit at CBS News.

    Len as born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the City University of New York in 1976. While in college, Tepper joined WNBC's NewsCenter 4, where he produced investigative stories local to New York. Some such stories included detailing construction cost overruns on projects like Yankee Stadium, the Water Tunnel #3 and Seton Park in the Bronx. Along with Chris Wallace and Bret Marcus, the team won the 1977 George Foster Peabody Award for their investigative reports.

    In 1982, Tepper move to NBC News where he covered law enforcement, breaking the news on the Commission Case, detailing how state and federal agents bugged homes and vehicles of top Mafia bosses.

    He moved to the ABC News World News Tonight investigative unit in 1997. While there, he contributed to two Peabody and two Emmy Awards exposing government waste and international terrorism. Tepper's award-winning coverage also included post-9/11 investigations.

    In 2009, Tepper joined CBS News. as Chief of Investigative Projects, contributing to coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing, Newtown massacre and terror attacks in Paris, Brussels and Nice. In 2012, he was named Senior Producer in charge of the CBS News Investigative Unit. His was promoted to his current position in 2015.
