  • Michael Baltierra is the Executive Editor of E:60, ESPN's award-winning news magazine show. Since joining the program in September 2008, he has overseen editorial content, shaped and supervised the production of long-form features, films and specials, and managed the show's team of reporters, producers and editors.

    Baltierra is the winner of 16 Emmy Awards, nine Edward R. Murrow Awards, an Alfred I. duPont Columbia University Award, and a George Foster Peabody Award. During Baltierra's tenure, E:60 has earned 14 Sports Emmy Awards. In addition, several international investigations he has supervised have been honored: Qatar's World Cup with the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award; Corrective Rape in South Africa with the United Nations Special Gold Medal; and The Dictator's Team: Soccer in Syria with the Emmy for Outstanding Sports Journalism.

    His ESPN career has also taken him to Brazil and South Africa to cover the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

    Prior to joining ESPN, Baltierra worked at ABC News for 13 years. He began his journalism career there in 1996 as a vacation relief desk assistant on the overnight news desk. He went on to hold various positions including producer for Peter Jennings at World News Tonight, Senior Broadcast Producer for Nightline, and London Bureau reporter/producer covering Europe, Africa and the Middle East. His assignments at ABC News included covering the Second Intifada, the aftermath of Sept. 11th in Europe and the Middle East, the war in Afghanistan, the Iraq War and elections, the Asian tsunami, the death of Pope John Paul II, and the capture of Saddam Hussein. He was also one of the first reporters on the ground to cover the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen.

    Baltierra, whose father worked for the US State Department, has lived in cities across the United States and Europe, including Madrid, Spain, his mother's hometown. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, with magna cum laude honors, from Yale University, and a Master of Arts from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
