- Mark Middlewick is a filmmaker from South Africa. He graduated with honors in Dramatic Art from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. After completing his studies, he taught screenwriting and film theory before heading to Los Angeles, where he worked as a script reader.
His breakout short film, "Security," made in association with Focus Features, was showcased at film festivals around the world. His next short, "The Mascot," starred Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody and was produced by Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti. Not long after, he was named one of the Mail & Guardian's "200 Young South Africans." His latest short film was shot in Brittany, France, and premiered at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in the National Competition.
He has participated in the Berlinale Talents Program and later served as a mentor for the Short Film Lab at Talents Durban, part of the Berlinale Talents initiative.
As a celebrated music video director, his video "Fog" for SAMA award-winning artist Nakhane was nominated for the 'Most Beautiful Object in South Africa' at the prestigious International Design Indaba.
He works as an international commercials director, having shot around the world and created ads for major brands like HSBC, Facebook, and IKEA.
