Matt Macedo(I)

Matt Macedo was born on January 31, 1994, in the Central Valley of California. Between the ages of 3 and 6, Macedo performed in his step-brother's homemade movies for fun. By the age of 12, he began writing short stories, one of which became his first screenplay titled Envision.
In 2011 he strengthened his skills as a filmmaker and created a short documentary titled Homeless in Hanford. The project highlighted an individual's struggle with addiction and his unique perspective on living homeless in a small community.
In 2014, Macedo began production on Drug of Choice, his first film to screen at a festival. The film offered the perspective of a teenager addicted to heroin and how childhood trauma led to his suffering.
In 2016, Macedo relocated from the Central Valley to Los Angeles to attend The New York Film Academy in Burbank, where he graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Filmmaking. During his time in school, he created short films that went on to win awards at numerous festivals, including Without Regret and Our Oceans.
Macedo has since become a leading director in the emerging world of vertical series. In 2023, he directed his first vertical drama, Call Me Alpha, for ShortTV. Shortly after, he directed The Unwanted Mate for ShortMax, which quickly rose to the top of the platform's charts. Over the following years, Macedo directed more than 13 vertical mini-series, with several reaching record-breaking viewership. His work across platforms such as ShortMax, DramaBox, and ReelShort has established him as one of the highest-grossing and most sought-after directors in the vertical format.
