[regarding plans for Parliament to debate an International Men's Day] I just think it's worth pointing out that the idea that this Chamber, that these Houses, both of them, in any way reflect gender equality is, to me, a frankly laughable thing and so in the fight for equality I'm not sure the [reads list] MEN on this list necessarily have that much to fight for.

[responding to Conservative attempts to define skilled labor in monetary terms] The idea that my constituents are not skilled because they don't earn over £30,000 [per year] is frankly insulting. It is insulting on every level... And perversely I have met many people since I was elected - none before, I thought I'd met posh people before I came here but I'd actually just met people who eat olives... who earn way more than £30,000, who have literally no discernible skills. Not even one. Since I have been in politics, not necessarily in this place (although there's a smattering), but I have definitely met some very rich people, who earn huge amounts of money, who I wouldn't let hold my pint.
