Ashley wrote a children's story that gently and metaphorically explains to young girls why they must protect themselves from domestic violence that is caused by a loved one.

Ashley once worked testing space shuttle parts at an aerospace company. She was also a Transportation Security Officer at the Burbank Airport, and later worked as a security officer at Warner Bros. Studios.

Ashley has two younger siblings on her father's side.
