Juan Diego Escobar Alzate is a filmmaker with a keen focus on genre cinema encompassing westerns and dark and eerie atmospheric fantasy films. He helmed the internationally acclaimed Colombian film "Luz: The Flower of Evil" (LUZ) in 2019, a standout entry in the Sitges Film Festival's official competition. This cult film boasted an impressive tally of 65 official selections and 24 prestigious awards.

With his distinctive style, a voice that stands apart, and a penchant for pushing boundaries within genre cinema, Escobar extends an invitation to embark on reflective, experiential, and emotionally charged journeys. His alternative narratives provoke questions and seek to heal, transcending the pursuit of blockbuster box office figures and mass appeal.
