Biography

Jesse O’Neill is an American actor and producer working in film and television. Born in New Jersey and raised in New York, he developed an early relationship with film, drawn from a young age to mature material that would eventually influence the kind of work he pursued.

O’Neill began his professional career in Wilmington, North Carolina, building it through independent film. His first feature lead came in Actor for Hire, directed by longtime collaborator and two-time Emmy-winning filmmaker Marcus Mizelle, which went on to play 25 film festivals across the U.S. His first studio credit followed with Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, in which he played Corporal Winston alongside Charles Dance, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown.

His credits cross both the Marvel and DC universes, including HBO’s Emmy-winning Watchmen, the action thriller Vendetta with Bruce Willis, Thomas Jane, Theo Rossi and Mike Tyson, and ABC’s Will Trent, in a comedic turn as a fast-talking ex-con.

More recently, he took on one of his most defining roles as the central villain in the crime film Hard Justice, Detective John Pauley, a corrupt narcotics cop running product of his own, in a performance built on charm, violence and volatility.

Beyond film, he’s built a recurring presence on FBI as SWAT Leader Ryan, carrying the character into FBI: Most Wanted. His 2026 films include the sci-fi horror comedy Weekend at the End of the World, starring Troian Bellisario and Thomas Lennon, trading the badge for prosthetics and physical comedy, and Vincent Grashaw’s biographical prison drama Bruton, with Theo Rossi, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival.

Moving between leading and supporting roles across film and television, years spent coaching actors have remained an important part of his development, both as an actor and as an artist. That same commitment to the work continues to carry him into ongoing creative relationships with filmmakers and producers across multiple productions.

Alongside acting, O’Neill writes character-driven material with an emphasis on tragedy, dialogue, tension and morally complicated people. He is drawn to immersive worlds with characters driven by who they love, what’s been taken from them, and how far they’ll go to get it back.
