Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, Mary Helen Bowers is a professional ballerina. She is the daughter of Fred and Carrie Bowers. Fred is an accountant and his wife Carrie is a retired school librarian. Mary attended Alexander Graham Middle School in Charlotte, North Carolina before leaving for New York City. She is the founder and CEO of Ballet Beautiful. Mary began studying as a full scholarship student at the School of American Ballet in Manhattan at the age of fifteen. She was invited to join the New York City Ballet at the age of sixteen. Mary danced for ten years with the New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center and on stages all around the world. Mary Helen Bowers graduated from Columbia University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. As a tech-savvy entrepreneur, Mary Helen developed one of the world's first online fitness studios. She created Ballet Beautiful method as a highly target and effective approach to fitness. At the heart of the Ballet Beautiful method is Mary Helen's expertise; the exquisite grace, beauty and strength that are the essence of a ballerina's form. Today 'www.balletbeautiful.com' has a global membership with a high profile following and impressive celebrity clientele. Ballet Beautiful and Mary Helen have been featured on CNN, ABC, the Today Show, the New York Times, Elle, Vogue, Women's Health, Harper's Bazaar and the Wall Street Journal. She released the book, Ballet Beautiful: Transform Your Body and Gain the Strength, Grace, and Focus of a Ballet Dancer on June 12, 2012 with a foreword by actress Natalie Portman. She has released the following ballet-inspired fitness programs onto DVD; "Ballet Beautiful Blast Series"," Ballet Beautiful: Body Blast" and "Ballet Beautiful: Today Body Workout". Mary has two brothers, John who is older and David. She lives with her husband Paul Dans in New York City, New York.
