Anna Tierney is an English actress, born in Manchester to Irish and Austrian heritage and raised in Northolt, West London. She is the daughter of renowned actor Malcolm Tierney (Braveheart, Lovejoy, Star Wars, Poldark and the original House Of Cards) and Linz born visual artist, Andrea Tierney.
Anna Tierney is best known for her series regular role Clara Morrow in 'Three Pines' (adapted for screen by Emilia Di Girolamo and produced by Amazon Prime, Left Bank Pictures and Sony), 'Deceit' (Channel 4) and 'Psycho Goreman' (SXSW). Anna most recently wrapped filming in the upcoming Netflix show 'The Body' as Melanie Butler.
Anna trained at the Drama Centre London and was supported through drama school through various awards and the support of actors Jeremy Irons, Ian McKellen, Kitty Aldridge, Timothy West, Ian McShane and Roger Lloyd Pack.
She performed with the UK's most prestigious theatre companies: The Globe, The National, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Bristol Old Vic and Out Of Joint.
Anna played roller derby semi-professionally for 8 years with London Roller Derby and Toronto Roller derby's A-Team. She created the show 'Skate Hard, Turn Left' at the Battersea Arts Centre in London, directed by Jemima James (Complicté). Over intensive rehearsal periods, she trained a troupe of actors to roller skate, creating a devised, highly physical theatre show inspired by the queer, full-contact sport of roller derby.
She performed in the hit international tour of 'Our Country's Good' with Out Of Joint, the classic play by award-winning playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker. They performed at the Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis and then for the 25 Year anniversary at Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theater. It was here she met her partner, acclaimed musician and singer Gabriel DeSantis of the bands Whitebrow and King Cardiac.
She studied Modern and Medieval Languages on a scholarship at Oxford University and speaks fluent German.
