Sweetshop Entertainment is a home for fearless storytelling, born in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and headed by CEO Sharlene George. Emerging from the global production powerhouse The Sweetshop, originally co-founded by George in 2001, Sweetshop Entertainment champions diverse voices and authentic perspectives, delivering cinematic, culturally rich stories that inspire, entertain, and endure locally and universally.

Released projects include: Mārama; a Māori gothic horror by Taratoa Stappard (TIFF, Sitges, Zurich IFF, Fantastic Festivals 2025) Taumanu (FIFO Jury Prize 2024); short for TVNZ’s Beyond the Veil anthology also by Stappard. Untold Tales of Tūteremoana (ImagineNATIVE 2023) for Whakaata Māori and NITV with Hiona Henare. Birds Eye View Season 1 & Season 2 (Best Children’s show NZTV Awards 2022); animated TV series with Studio Local for TVNZ. Datsun (Berlinale, SXSW 2020); a short film with Mark Albiston. Testify (nominated Best Drama series NZTV Awards 2024) 6 x 1 hour prime time TV series for Warner Bros directed by David Stubbs and Paula Whetu Jones.
